Kentucky Visions Short Story Contest Winner
My short story, “What You Don’t Know,” that takes place on Anderson Ferry, which crosses The Ohio River from Constance, Kentucky to Delhi, Ohio, was awarded first place in the inaugural Kentucky Visions Short Story Contest at the Kentucky State Capitol Rotunda. All 16 finalists’ stories were published in a commemorative anthology by The Bluegrass Writers Coalition who sponsored the contest.
My poem “Because every moment’s an occasion for attention” won the 2022 Slippery Elm Poetry Contest, and was nominated for a Pushcart Prize. I will be the judge for the 2023 Slippery Elm Poetry Contest, deadline February 1, 2023: Contest Guidelines – Slippery Elm (findlay.edu).
My poem "Emily Carr’s Zunoqua of the Cat Village, 1931" was nominated for Best of the Net by OyeDrum.
My short story collection, How We Fracture, won the Rosemary Daniell Fiction Prize, and is forthcoming from Minerva Rising Press in Spring 2023.

My flash fiction “To the Man on Crutches Lumbering through Sand Dunes to the Atlantic” was a finalist in the 2021 Hemingway Shorts Contest, held annually by the Ernest Hemingway Foundation of Oak Park. It will be published in the literary journal, Hemingway Shorts, Vol 6.
